Men’s soccer falls to Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team fell to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents, 2-0, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Tomcats kept the first half scoreless, outshooting the Presidents 7-4. However, two second half goals for the Presidents give them the 2-0 win.

Thiel was outshot 15-13 for the game, but had the 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Thiel was led by Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) who recorded three shots on goal. Pierson Badowski (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) recorded two shots on goal, whole Evan Kosenina (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) also recorded a shot on goal. Logan Smith (Girard, Pa./Girard) also added two shots.

Washington & Jefferson was led by Gannon Ryan who recorded one goal. Jimmy Gogol also notched a goal.

For Thiel, Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) started the game, making one save. Kevin Gilroy (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) played the final 7:39 of the match.

For Washington & Jefferson, Tyler Haczela got the start, making four saves in one half of play. Charles Boldosser recorded three saves in the second half of the match.

The Tomcats head to Westminster on Wednesday for a PAC match. The conference game is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m.
