CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Thiel College football team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Case Western Reserve Spartans, 52-7, on the road at DiSanto Field Saturday night.
Case Western took the opening kickoff inside Tomcat territory. The Spartans then punched the ball into the endzone after seven plays.
The Spartans forced a Tomcat 3-and-out, before going on a 3-play, 48 yard drive to take a quick 14-0 lead.
On the ensuing Thiel drive, the Tomcats were able to get some momentum, getting into Spartan territory. However, a Thiel interception set Case Western up with good field position. The Spartans would add another touchdown before the end of the first quarter.
The Spartans would add two more touchdowns to go into halftime up 35-0.
Thiel started the second half with the ball, turning the ball over on downs at the Thiel 31 yard line.
The Spartans extended their lead to 42-0 after two plays after the turnover on downs.
On the ensuing kickoff return,
Jayveerh White (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) had his best return of the season, returning the kick 62 yards to the Case Western 13 yard line.
However, the Spartans were able to stop the Tomcats, forcing another turnover on downs.
On the next play,
Jaellen Rose (Midlothian, Va./James River) forced a fumble, and recovered the fumble at the Case Western 21 yard line to give the Tomcats excellent field position once again.

Daniel Rennie (Cape Coral, Fla./Oasis) found
Blake Joseph (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) at the goal line for the Tomcats only score of the game.
The Spartans would add another touchdown and field goal in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Thiel was led by
Daniel Rennie (Cape Coral, Fla./Oasis), who went 14-for-18 for 85 yards and one touchdown. Through the air,
Ryan Acosta (El Paso, Texas/Americas) caught five passes for 35 yards. Joseph's only catch was for a touchdown.
On the ground,
Tanner Rennie (Cape Coral, Fla./Oasis) rushed for 23 yards on seven carries.
Deon Logan (Richmond, Va./James River) rushed for eight yards on nine carries.
Defensively, Rose the Tomcats with 10 tackles, including one tackle-for-loss, and a forced fumble and recovered a fumble.
Jake Badger (Mercer, Pa./Mercer Area) recorded eight tackles, while
Luke Faber (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) recorded six tackles.
For Case Western, Alex Fromberg went 13-for-17 for 243 yards and four touchdowns. Sam DeTillio rushed for 53 yards on five carries and one touchdown.
Noah Coyne caught five passes for 87 yards and three touchdowns. Alec Angello and Ethan Dahlem both caught one touchdown piece each.
Defensively, Kaden Tong recorded seven tackles, including one sack. Brody Roth recorded six tackles, including two tackles for a loss.
The Tomcats will travel to Grove City next Saturday for a PAC matchup. Grove City is ranked seventh in NCAA Division III, according to D3football.com. The conference matchup is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
