MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team won a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup on the road against the Allegheny Gators, 72-62, Wednesday night.
Allegheny held an 18-13 advantage heading into the first half under-12 media timeout. However, the Tomcats closed the half on a 19-11 run to take a 32-29 lead into halftime.
The Gators took a three-point lead with just under 13 minutes remaining in the second half. The Tomcats responded with a 9-2 run to take a 49-46 lead.
Thiel closed the game out on a 23-16 run to win 72-62.
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) led the Tomcats with 13 points and six rebounds.
Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) recorded 11 points and eight rebounds, while
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) recorded 10 points and secured three rebounds.
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) recorded nine points and grabbed six boards, while
Jonah Biggers (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) recorded nine points and grabbed a team-high seven boards.
The Gators were led by Luke Barker who recorded 20 points and dished out five assists. Isaiah Portis recorded 11 points, while Mike Noonan recorded eight points and three boards.
The Tomcats return home for a conference matchup with the Westminster Titans on Saturday. The PAC game is scheduled to tip at 3 p.m.
