GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team opened up their home campaign in a tri-match against the Carlow Celtics and the Westminster Titans, Friday night at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats opened the tri-match against Carlow, sweeping the Celtics with set scores of 25-14, 30-28, 25-15.
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton) led all players with 17 kills to go along with six digs.
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa./Grove City Area) recorded a game-high 20 digs while also tallying two service aces.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) recorded 13 kills and nine digs, while freshman
Arin DeLattre (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) recorded eight kills with a hitting percentage of .538.
Sarah Orr (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) led both teams with 41 assists.
Rebecca Hess led the Celtics with nine kills and seven digs, while Claire Yezovich recorded a team-best 12 digs. Meghan Alexander recorded a team-high 30 assists.
The Tomcats lost 3-1 to the Westminster Titans in the final game of the night with set scores of 21-25, 25-22, 15-25, 14-25.
Thiel was led by Jenness who recorded 10 kills. Reynolds had a game-high 24 digs, while Gregory had nine kills and 14 digs.
Emma Buchta (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) recorded seven kills while Orr recorded 31 assists. DeLattre also recorded five blocks.
Westminster was led by Lauren Lampus who notched 13 kills and 15 digs. Rachel Brady recorded 10 kills and 13 digs, while Malia Duffey recorded a team-high 18 digs.
The Tomcats will hit the road to open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play against the Allegheny Gators on Wednesday. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
