Tomcats fall to Gators in PAC doubleheader

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team dropped two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Allegheny Gators Monday afternoon.
 
The Gators took game one 1-0, before taking game two 9-6.
 
Game one was a defensive battle, with only one run being scored. That run came in the fourth inning off of a Cameron Long homer to left field.
 
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was on the mound for the Tomcats, pitching all seven innings going up only six hits and only one run. She struck out three and did not allow a walk.
 
Offensively, it was a struggle as the Tomcats only garnered three hits. Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville), Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) and Amber Wilkes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peters Township) all recorded hits for the Tomcats.
 
For the Gators, Sophia Godzak led the team going 2-for-3. Long went 1-for-2 and scored the game's only run. Aleya Belardinelli, Olivia Devries and Isabelle Wakefield all recorded one hit a piece. 
 
Belardinelli started the game on the mound throwing a complete game shutout. She struck out 10 and walked three while only giving up three hits.
 
In game two, Thiel was led by Julianna Sloan (Kingsville, Ohio/Edgewood) who went 2-for-4 including a homerun in the seventh inning and two RBIs. Makenna Oswalt (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) went 2-for-3 including one RBI. Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley), Mila Brdar (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport), Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville), Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau), Lauren Bonner (Hermitage, Pa./Reynolds) and Amber Wilkes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peters Township) all recorded one hit a piece.
 
Lauren Bonner (Hermitage, Pa./Reynolds) pitched seven innings, giving up nine runs, five of which were earned. She also walked three.
 
Allegheny was led by Sophia Godzak who went 3-for-4 including one RBI. Samantha Dzierba went 2-for-4 and two RBIs.
 
Dzierba started on the mound for the Gators going seven innings and allowing six runs. She struck out three and only walked one.
 
The Tomcats will head to Grove City on Thursday for a PAC doubleheader. The conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
