NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team lost a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games on the road Friday to the Westminster Titans.
Westminster won the first game 1-0 before earning a 9-1 victory in the second game.
Game 1 was a pitchers' duel with Westminster's Madison Brown throwing a perfect game while Thiel's
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) allowed one run on five hits.
Brown struck out six batters while Roddy had three strikeouts.
The Titans scored the only run they would need in the third inning on an infield hit by Brooke Atkins. Emma Gurley went 2-for-2 at the plate for Westminster in Game 1.
Westminster took an early 8-0 lead in Game 2 with four-run efforts in the first and third innings.
Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) went 2-for-2 in the second game with a run scored in the fourth inning on
Julianna Sloan's (Kingsville, Ohio/Edgewood) double to right center field.
Elizabeth Malczak earned the win in Game 2. She allowed one run on three hits with one strikeout in four innings of work.
Gurley and Mackenzie Latess both went 3-for-3 and combined for three RBIs for the Titans in the second game.
The Tomcats will host the Franciscan Barons Tuesday. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
