GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team defeated the La Roche Redhawks in a non-conference game, 6-4, Wednesday afternoon at Tomcat Park.
Prior to the game, senior
Kylee Yothers (Indian Head, Pa./Connellsville Area) was honored for Senior Day.
La Roche got off to an early 3-0 lead, before the Tomcats answered in the bottom half of the opening frame. La Roche then took the lead in the second inning.
La Roche led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, when
Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) doubled down the left field line to give the Tomcats a 5-4 lead. A
Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) single drove in the final run of the game.
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) led the Tomcats with two RBIs and two walks.
Kylie Heid (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) went 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Kylee Yothers (Indian Head, Pa./Connellsville Area) went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while
Julianna Sloan (Kingsville, Ohio/Edgewood) went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Kennedi Winslow went 1-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Redhawks. Garrah Milochik went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Emma Bizay went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Lauren Bonner (Hermitage, Pa./Reynolds) started for the Tomcats, going seven innings with three strikeouts and zero walks.
Ashtin Hoover started for La Roche, going four innings with four walks and six runs.
The Tomcats will close out their season on Thursday against Chatham at Tomcat Park. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
