Tomcats split doubleheader with Golden Tornadoes

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team split a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games on the road with the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Wednesday afternoon.
 
Geneva took game one 5-1, before the Tomcats bounced back and took game two 4-2.
 
The Tomcats only garnered two hits in game one.
 
In game one, Geneva took an early 3-0 lead and never looked back. Riley Ladd (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) singled to center in the seventh to put the Tomcats on the board.
 
Thiel was led by Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) and Riley Ladd (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge), who recorded the Tomcats' only hits. Ladd also recorded an RBI.
 
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) went all six innings, giving up eight hits. 
 
Geneva was led by Peri Ceasri who went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Sarah Johnson also went 2-for-3.
 
Haley Smith went seven innings, giving up one run and striking out eight. 
 
In game two, the Tomcats garnered five hits.
 
Geneva scored two runs in the first inning, but the Tomcats responded with four runs in the top half of the second inning to finish the scoring.
 
Thiel was led by Julianna Sloan (Kingsville, Ohio/Edgewood), who went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills), Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) and Makenna Oswalt (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) each recorded an RBI as well.
 
Lauren Bonner (Hermitage, Pa./Reynolds) started for the Tomcats, going all seven innings, giving up two runs and striking out two.
 
Geneva was led by Sarah Johnson who went 3-for-3. Julia Hart went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
 
Sophia Tvaroch went 1.1 innings in the loss. McKenzie Rapp and Haley Smith pitched in relief, combining for two strikeouts. 
 
The Tomcats return to PAC action on Saturday when they travel to Westminster. The conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
