GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team defeated the Franciscan Barons 12-7 Wednesday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Alumni Stadium.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) scored the game-tying and go-ahead goals for the Tomcats in the third quarter.
He scored a man-up marker on a pass from
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) with 10:33 remaining in the third. His third goal of the game, which was unassisted, was at the 6:45 mark of the third quarter.
Thiel went on to score four more unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to earn the conference win.
Medyn led Thiel with six points (4G, 2A). Lawler (4G, 1A) and
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) (3G, 2A) tallied five points apiece.
Bryce Knauf (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) won 13-of-22 faceoffs while
Alex Andreozzi (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and
Matt Edlinger (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) caused three turnovers apiece.
Samuel Marshall paced the Barons with four points (3G, 1A).
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made 11 saves for Thiel. Fabian Onativia denied 17 shots for Franciscan.
Thiel will face Westminster on the road Saturday. The PAC game will start at noon.
