GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game in overtime to the Allegheny Gators, 71-65, Wednesday night at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel opened up a quick 10-3 lead heading into the first media timeout of the game. Allegheny would get as close as two multiple times throughout the first half, but Thiel found themselves up 26-22 in a low scoring first half.
Just like the first half, Thiel opened up the second half with a 13-6 run, taking an 11 point lead with just over 15 minutes remaining in the second half.
With just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, Allegheny was able to tie the game up at 41.
It was back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the game.
The Gators took a 56-54 lead with 2:25 remaining in the game, before an 
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) jumper with 29 seconds remaining tied the game up.
Allegheny's Ryan Lang missed a layup as time expired to send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Allegheny led wire-to-wire, opening up a lead by as much as six.
Barnes led all scorers with 23 points. He also added three assists, two steals and a rebound. 
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) recorded 12 points and nine boards, while 
Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) recorded seven points, 10 rebounds and a steal. 
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds to go along with six points.
Allegheny was led by Andre Wilder who recorded 22 points and 16 rebounds. Preston Turk notched 14 points and five boards, while Luke Barker recorded 11 points and five boards.
The Tomcats will travel to Westminster on Saturday for a PAC matchup. The conference game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
