NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball game lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road to the Westminster Titans, 77-69, Saturday afternoon inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
A free throw by senior forward AJ Green notted the game up at 16 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Westminster would outscore Thiel 19-15 to get a four point lead heading into halftime.
Westminster opened up an 11-point lead early in the second half, before Thiel was able to tie the game up at 68 with 1:31 remaining in regulation.
The Titans closed the game on a 9-1 run to win the game.
Thiel was led by
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) who notched a team-best 15 points to go along with six rebounds. Junior guard
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) recorded 13 points and six boards, while
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) recorded 10 points and seven rebounds.
Westminster was led by Trey DePietro who recorded a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds. Quincy Jones recorded 16 points and ten boards, while Reese Leone recorded 11 points.
The Tomcats will return to PAC play on Wednesday when they travel to Chatham. The conference game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
