GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Chatham Cougars, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
Chatham had an early lead, after Azavier Coppin gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the match.
Thiel responded, however after
Neko Hatton (Bryans Road, Md./Henry E. Lackey) found
Hunter Blatt (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) at the top of the box, who then slotted the ball home to level the score at 1-1.
Senior
AJ Trobek (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) then gave the Tomcats a 2-1 lead just five minutes before halftime after
Tyler Davy (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) found him on the wing. Trobek then beat Chatham goalkeeper Maxwell Cottrill at his near post.
Chatham leveled the score in the 68
th minute, before taking a 3-2 lead in the 80
th minute. The Cougars added a fourth goal in the 84
th minute to round out the scoring.
Chatham was led by Justin Knox who recorded one goal and one assist. Anthony Holter also recorded a goal and an assist. Cottrill recorded three saves in goal.
For Thiel, Trobek led the team with three shots, including a goal. Davy recorded two shots, while
Trey Grazier (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded a shot. In goal,
Nick Kristian (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) recorded two saves.
Prior to the game, Hatton, Trobek,
Corbin Nale (Bellwood, Pa./Bellwood-Antis),
Max Ravenscroft (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown),
Cade Wolfe (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) and
Evan Young (Suitland, Md./Henry E. Lackey) were honored during Senior Day.
The Tomcats return to action on Tuesday for a PAC matchup on the road against the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The conference game is scheduled to begin 7 p.m.
