GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Westminster Titans, 3-2, at Alumni Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Thiel took a 1-0 lead 12 minutes into the match after freshman
Aiden Davis (Poland, Ohio/Poland) found
Hunter Blatt (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) in the box for an easy finish.
The Titans equalized just five minutes later, and the score was even 1-1 at halftime.
The Tomcats would go a man up for the final 30 minutes of the match after Westminster's Marc Esqueda received his second yellow card of the game.
Westminster, however, would score three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead late into the second half.
The Tomcats were able to cut the deficit in half with 27 seconds left in the game when
Tyler Davy (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) scored his first collegiate goal, but the Titans held tough to close out the game.
Thiel was led by Davy and Blatt who each recorded a goal. Freshman
Aiden Davis (Poland, Ohio/Poland) recorded his first collegiate point providing the assist on Blatt's goal.
Westminster was led by Connor Schmidt, who recorded a hat trick. Jacob Steinbeck and Max Letchworth each recorded an assist.
In net for the Tomcats, freshman
Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) recorded two saves.
For the Titans, Jad Jadallah did not record a save, but earned the win.
The Tomcats will close out the 2023 season on Tuesday when they welcome the Allegheny Gators to Alumni Stadium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.
