GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game to the Allegheny Gators, 5-3, Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium in the final game of the season.
Allegheny got on the board six minutes into the game after a Thiel handball in the box gave the Gators a penalty kick.
However, less than a minute later, freshman
Jack Springer (Hartford, Ohio/Badger) recorded his first collegiate goal after he found the ball at the top of the box and hit it into the bottom corner.
In the 32
nd minute, Allegheny got the lead back, before scoring a third to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Thiel cut into the lead in the 54
th minute when
Neko Hatton (Bryans Road, Md./Henry E. Lackey) scored his second goal of the season.
The Gators restored their two goal lead in the 58
th minute, before taking a 5-2 lead in the 77
th minute.
Thiel was able to add a goal in the 78
th minute through
Evan Young (Suitland, Md./Henry E. Lackey), but it was too late.
Thiel was led by Hatton who recorded a goal and an assist. Springer recorded his first career goal, while Young recorded I second goal of the season.
Grant Becker (North Olmsted, Ohio/North Olmsted) also recorded an assist.
Allegheny was led by Brady Napoleon who recorded a hat trick and an assist. Will Gruca and Darius Googe each recorded a goal.
In net for the Tomcats,
Bryce Stefanowicz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) recorded six saves.
For the Gators, Caleb Kendra recorded two saves.
The Tomcats finish the season 1-13-3 (0-8-2 PAC).
