PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference game to the Chatham Cougars, 68-62, Saturday afternoon.
Chatham started the game on a 7-0 run, but the Tomcats would fight back. Thiel would take their first lead of the game a little over halfway through the first half. They would be tied 34-34 heading into halftime.
With four minutes remaining in the game, the score would be tied 58-58. The Cougars would close the game out with a 10-4 run.
Freshman guard
Mike Brown (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park) led the Tomcats with a career-best 17 points to go along with nine boards. Senior forward
Beni Lavodrama (Washington, D.C./Phelps ACE) recorded a double-double with a season-high 16 points and a game-high 10 boards.
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) and
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) recorded seven points apiece.
The Cougars were led by Simon Boyer who recorded 18 points and six rebounds. Isaiah Smith recorded 16 points and James Thomas added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Tomcats look to get back in the win column when they travel to Geneva on Wednesday for a mid-week Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
