Tomcats conclude play in Raider Rumble

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Thiel College men's volleyball team concluded play in the Raider Rumble Saturday with non-conference losses to the Mount St. Joseph Lions  and the Mount Union Purple Raiders.
 
The Mount St. Joseph Lions won in straight sets 25-11, 30-28, 25-17.
 
Thiel's David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) recorded a team-high eight kills to go along with three service aces and four digs. Connor McInnis (Southington, Conn./Southington) notched six kills and three digs, while Jacob Smeltzer (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) notched five kills with a .333 hitting percentage. Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) recorded a game-high 14 digs. Josh Pugh (Wexford, Pa./Pine Richland) tallied a team-high 16 assists.
 
Mount. St. Joseph was led by Ryan Carmosino who tallied 11 kills. Jude Lewis recorded 10 kills and six digs. Ben Carmosino notched a game-high 30 assists.
 
The Mount Union Purple Raiders won in straight sets 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.
 
Thiel was led by Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs), Tyler Hussey (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and McInnis who recorded six kills apiece. McInnis also added a team-high seven digs. Ethan Cooper (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) tallied a team-high 17 assists.
 
The Purple Raiders were led by Luke Trzeciak who recorded nine kills and eight digs. Max Kaiser added four kills, seven digs and a game-high 31 assists.
 
The Tomcats return to the court when they travel to Hilbert for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matchup on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
