HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team defeated the Hilbert Hawks, 3-1, for their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) win of the season.
The Tomcats won the first two sets (25-18, 25-20), but the Hawks would take the third set 25-23.
The Tomcats would close out the game by winning the fourth set 25-16.
Thiel's
Jake Dies (Cambridge Springs, Pa./Cambridge Springs) tallied a team-high 12 kills to go along with four blocks.
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) notched 11 kills and a team-high nine digs.
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) notched a game-high two service aces to go along with 4 blocks.
Ethan Cooper (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) notched 25 assists.
Hilbert was led by Brad Converse who tallied a game-high 17 kills. Ryan Levcik notched 12 digs and a game-high 31 assists.
The Tomcats return to home to play Baldwin Wallace on Thursday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
