GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team dropped an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) game to the Penn-State Behrend Lions, 3-1, Tuesday night.
The Lions won the first two sets (25-22, 25-20). The Tomcats won the third set (25-21) to stay alive. However, the Lions would take the fourth set (25-21) to seal the win.
Thiel's
James Cromwell-Young (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run) led all players with 13 kills. He also added three blocks and two digs.
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) added 12 kills and a game-high 16 digs, while also adding a game-high three service aces.
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) added 11 kills to go along with 13 digs.
Josh Pugh (Wexford, Pa./Pine Richland) added a team-high 22 assists.
Behrend was led by Kyle Hoffman and Owen Wienczkowski, who tallied 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Wienczkowski also added a game-high seven blocks. Alex Jackson added 12 digs and a game-high 37 assists.
The Tomcats will travel to Mount Union for a two-day event. Thiel is scheduled to play Illinois Institute of Technology on Friday at 5 p.m.
