GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team defeated the Carlow Celtics, 3-0, Thursday night.
The Tomcats swept the Celtics (25-17, 25-18, 25-13) to give them their second win of the season.
The Tomcats were led by freshman
James Cromwell-Young (Virginia Beach, Va./Green Run), who led the team in kills (6) service aces (4) and blocks (4). Cromwell-Young also added two digs and had a hitting percentage of 1.000.
Will Zimmerman (Cranberry, Pa./Seneca Valley) recorded five kills and two blocks.
Connor McInnis (Southington, Conn./Southington) and
Jacob Smeltzer (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) each notched four kills. McInnis added two digs and two blocks.
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) recorded four kills to go along with one dig and a hitting percentage of .800.
Cameron Long (Rock Hill, S.C./Legion Collegiate Academy) tallied a game-high seven digs.
Ethan Cooper (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) recorded a team-high 17 assists.
Carlow was led by Russ Cyprowski, who recorded a game-high 11 kills to go along with three digs. James Stone recorded five digs, while Coulter Chaffee recorded a game-high 21 assists.
The Tomcats will travel to Baldwin Wallace on Sunday, where they will play St. Norbert at 12:30 p.m. and Marian at 3:00 p.m.
