GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team swept the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Tuesday 3-0 in a non-conference match at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel won by set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-10.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman), who owned an attack percentage of .355 on the night, led the Tomcats with 14 kills to go along with 12 digs.
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) tallied 10 kills while
Katie Stamp (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman), who recorded an attack percentage of .375, contributed nine kills.
Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local) dished out 36 assists.
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) and
Sarah Orr (Conneaut Lake, Pa./Conneaut Area) chipped in with 26 and 13 digs, respectively.
Megan Veon paced Geneva with seven kills. Maggie Townsend registered 20 digs.
Frank Maenpa, Ph.D. '69 H'21 and his wife, Diane, were honored prior to Tuesday's match. The new competition floor, Maenpa Court, is named in honor of the Maenpas. A former member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Maenpa was a longtime high school volleyball coach.
Thiel will face Allegheny on the road Thursday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The Tomcats will begin conference play Saturday when they host the Franciscan Barons at 1 p.m.
