STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel College men's soccer team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on the road to the Franciscan Barons, 4-3, on Tuesday.
The Tomcats opened the scoring just over ten minutes into the match. But the lead would not last long. Just under two minutes later, the Barons would get the equalizer. The Barons would double their lead just four minutes later, before adding a third from the penalty spot in the 27
th minute to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
The Tomcats would pull a goal back just seven minutes after the second half started, but the Barons would convert another penalty kick just one minute later. The Tomcats would get a penalty kick of their own in the 77th minute, and would convert it to finish the scoring.
For the Tomcats, junior
AJ Trobek (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) recorded one goal to go along with two assists. Junior
Evan Young (Suitland, Md./Henry E. Lackey) and sophomore
Hunter Blatt (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) each recorded a goal. In net, freshman
Nick Kristian (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) recorded six saves in the contest.
For the Barons, Nick Miller, Augustine Rubino, Mikey Irvin and Jonathan Schriner each recorded a goal. In net, Jax Mautone recorded three saves.
The Tomcats are back in action on Saturday when the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets come to town for senior day. The Presidents' Athletic Conference match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
