ERIE, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team lost 19-7 to the Penn State Behrend Lions on Thursday.
The Lions were boosted by a seven-run second inning and six-run seventh inning. The Tomcats had a four-run fourth inning of their own.
Nick Jacobs (New Castle, Pa./Union) hit two doubles and scored a run.
Trey Williams (Jeromesville, Ohio/Hillsdale) reached base three times and scored a run.
Jamin Wentling (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) scored twice.
Ethan Bintrim (New Castle, Pa./Shenango) tallied two RBIs and a run.
Mike Sittig (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) and
Adam Walker (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) each drove in a run and scored a run.
Patrick Shirey (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) doubled and drove in a run.
Dan Lutz (Loveland, Ohio/Milford) and
Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) each drove in a run.
Max Siguenza (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) was charged with the loss. Jacobs tossed a shutout inning with a strikeout in his first collegiate inning pitched.
For the Lions, Isaac Stouffer homered, doubled, scored two runs, and drove in four runs. Ben Bowen earned the win on the mound.
The Tomcats will host the Washington & Jefferson Presidents for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
