BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes on Wednesday.
In game one, the Tomcats and Golden Tornadoes entered the fifth inning tied at two. The next two innings the Tomcats scored two runs in both innings to win 6-2.
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched seven innings of two-run ball to earn her fourth win of the season. She allowed just four hits and no walks while striking out two.
Kylee Yothers (Indian Head, Pa./Connellsville Area) tallied three hits, including a double, two runs, and an RBI.
Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) also notched two runs and an RBI.
Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) and
Casey Buechel (Allison Park, Pa./Deer Lakes) each drove in two runs.
Julianna Sloan (Kingsville, Ohio/Edgewood) and
Melina Bufalini (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) each scored a run.
In game two, Geneva got off to a quick start with a four-run first inning and added more to win 11-3 in five innings.
Rottman went 2-for-3 with a run. Ficeti also scored a run. Yothers hit an RBI-double.
Heather Farr (Conneaut, Ohio/Edgewood) went 1-for-2 with an RBI double.
Riley Ladd (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) scored a run.
Lauren Bonner (Hermitage, Pa./Reynolds) was charged with the loss in four innings pitched.
For Geneva, Julia Hart homered in both games with four runs and four RBIs combined.
The Tomcats will conclude the season on the road against the Saint Vincent Bearcats on Saturday. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
