NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team lost two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games to the Westminster Titans on the road Friday. Westminster won the first game 10-2 and the second game 11-1.
The first game was a continuation of the contest that began at Thiel on April 11. Rain halted the game with Westminster leading 4-2 with Thiel batting in the second inning with two outs, and forced the remainder of the doubleheader to be switched to New Wilmington.
On Friday, the Titan added three runs in the third inning and three more runs in the sixth inning to earn the win in six frames.
Dani Ficeti (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) led the Tomcats with two singles in the first game.
Westminster's Madison Brown struck out seven and allowed just two hits in five innings.
Westminster scored a pair of runs in the first inning of the second game.
Abby Rottman (Hilliards, Pa./Moniteau) cut the lead in half in the second when she hit an RBI-double to left center field, but the Titans went on to score nine unanswered runs to earn the 11-1 win in five innings.
The Tomcats will face the Bethany Bison on the road on Saturday. The first game of the PAC doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
