NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team was defeated, 25-8 by the Westminster Titans in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game on Wednesday.
The Tomcats kept close with the Titans early as the Titans led just 3-2 at the 4:48 mark. However, a seven-goal run gave the Titans a comfortable 10-2 lead that was not threatened in the remainder of the contest.
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) tallied four points on three goals and an assist with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) also notched two goals and an assist for three points and three ground balls.
Dylan Waskiewicz (York, Pa./Red Lion) scored a goal and assisted on a goal.
Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) and
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) each recorded a goal and Selom Kalin-Samlin recorded an assist.
Alex Andreozzi (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Tomcats with five ground balls.
In net,
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) registered a career-high 25 saves. With 180 saves this season, he ranks third all-time in a single season among Tomcats goalkeepers and second in the PAC this season.
Joe Rosa led the Titans with five goals and an assist. Hamish Mathwin tallied five points on three goals and two assists.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back on senior day Saturday as they host the Washington & Jefferson Presidents at 3 p.m.
