GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team won its conference-opener Saturday over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 22-5.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) tallied her 100
th career point, which came on an unassisted goal with 7:30 remaining in the first quarter. Johnson became the seventh player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau.
Johnson (5G, 2A) and
Maddy Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) (6G, 1A) led Thiel with seven points apiece.
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded six points (3G, 3A) and also contributed six draw controls, six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Juanima Van Zandt (Baltimore, Md./Edmonson West) scored four goals for the Tomcats while
Camy Seman (Conneautville, Pa./Conneaut Area) scored two goals.
Rachel Caldwell and Tori Meiklejohn paced the Yellow Jackets with two goals apiece.
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made 12 saves to pick up her third win of the season. Anna Bradley made 11 saves for Waynesburg.
The Tomcats (3-2, 1-0 PAC) will host the Washington & Jefferson Presidents (3-4, 1-0 PAC) on Wednesday at Alumni Stadium. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
