Tomcats defeat Titans, 12-5

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team defeated the Westminster Titans 12-5 Wednesday at Alumni Stadium.
 
Thiel improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with the win.
 
The Tomcats, who never trailed the Titans, held a 4-1 lead heading into the second quarter thanks to a pair of late first-quarter unassisted goals by Camy Seman (Conneautville, Pa./Conneaut Area).
 
Thiel maintained a three-goal lead at halftime. Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler), Maddy Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) each scored a goal in the third to increase Thiel's lead to 9-4.
 
Johnson went on to add three more goals in the fourth quarter. She led the Tomcat with four goals on the day.
 
Ashlyn Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded four points (3G, 1A) while also contributing seven draw controls, seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Maddy Wightman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) scored three goals.
 
Magen Polczynski paced the Titans with four points (3G, 1A) while also recording three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
 
Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) made seven saves to pick up her fifth win of the season. Jade Hromanik made 13 saves for the Titans.
 
The Tomcats will face the Grove City Wolverines (10-2, 4-0) on the road on Wednesday, April 20. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
