GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team was defeated, 27-7, by the Grove City Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game Wednesday evening.
The Tomcats got on the board first with a goal just 1:14 into the game. However, the Wolverines took control and led 7-1 after the first quarter en route to their 27-7 win.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) and
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) led the Tomcats with four points apiece. Medyn scored three goals and recorded an assist. Lawler registered two goals and two assists.
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and
Evan Whiteside (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) each scored a goal.
Alex Andreozzi (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led the Tomcats with five ground balls.
Justin Mason (Alden, N.Y./Alden Central) finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. In net,
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made 14 saves and
Juan Zurita (Avondale, Pa./Kennett) made five saves.
Matt Blythe led the Wolverines with seven points on six goals and an assist. James Petrolle tallied three goals and three assists. Grant Evans notched 10 ground balls.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back when they travel to Westminster to take on the Titans next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
