BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team swept a pair of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) matches Saturday at Medaille College. The Tomcats beat the Saint Vincent Bearcats and the Medaille Mavericks both by scores of 3-0.
Thiel defeated Saint Vincent by set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-19.
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) led the Tomcats against the Bearcats with a match-best 15 kills. He also had four digs and owned an attack percentage of .609.
JC Govannucci (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) and
Colton Greenlee (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) recorded nine and eight kills, respectively.
Brandon Millias (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse ) tallied 37 assists while
Ricky Castillo (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) registered 10 digs.
Thiel beat Medaille in straight sets 25-15, 26-24, 25-12.
Smith recorded nine kills and four digs against Medaille.
David Gonzalez (El Paso, Texas/Eastwood) contributed seven kills and four digs. Millias handed out 19 assists while also recording seven digs.
Matt Dickerson paced the Mavericks with a match-best 13 kills.
The Tomcats, who have won four of their last five matches, will host an AMCC tri-match against Penn State Altoona and Medaille on Saturday, March 19.
