ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Thiel College baseball team was defeated on the road, 7-0, by the Mount Union Purple Raiders on Tuesday.
The Purple Raiders struck early with four runs in the first four innings and kept the Tomcats off the board.
Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) and
Anthony Rago (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) each went 2-for-4.
Seth Johnson (Magnolia, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley),
Nick Jacobs (New Castle, Pa./Union), and
Nick Guarnieri (Niles, Ohio/Mckinley) each recorded a hit. On the mound,
Alec Katon (Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood) pitched five innings and allowed four runs.
Richard Crooks (Milan, Ohio/Edison) threw three innings in relief and struck out three.
For the Purple Raiders, Zack Mazza scored three runs and drove in three runs with a triple and a home run. Carson Davis, Ryan Osman, Dan Zelina, and Cole Robinson combined for the shutout.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back when they host the Hiram Terriers on Thursday at 2 p.m.
