GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team defeated the Medaille Mavericks in a non-conference game Saturday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome, 19-4.
Freshman
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) led the Tomcats with nine goals, tying the program record for goals in a single game. Lawler matched Tim O'Shea's 9-goal effort on April 9, 2013, which led Thiel to a 22-5 win over Bethany. Lawler, who caused three turnovers, also led the Tomcats with seven ground balls Saturday.
Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) recorded six points (4G, 2A) while
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) tallied five points (3G, 2A).
Tyree Orange (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst) contributed four points (2G, 2A).
Alex Andreozzi (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) led all players with four caused turnovers.
Kyle Durwald paced the Mavericks with two goals.
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made 11 saves for the Tomcats to earn the win. Martin Romero also made 11 saves for Medaille.
Thiel will take on Heidelberg on the road on Saturday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
