GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team won a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game against the Franciscan Barons, 88-85, Tuesday night.
Franciscan began the game on 17-2 run, forcing the Tomcats to take a timeout. The Tomcats responded with a 15-4 run of their own, and eventually took the lead just under halfway through the first half.
The Tomcats would go into halftime up 49-47.
The Tomcats would outscore the Barons 39-38 in the second half to preserve the lead.
The Tomcats were led by junior guard
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill), who recorded a career-high 29 points to go along with two rebounds, including going 13-14 from the free throw line. Graduate forward
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) recorded his sixth double-double of the season, recording 15 points and grabbing 14 boards. Sophomore
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) had a game-high six assists, while freshman
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) recorded 16 points to go along with two assists.
For the Barons, Travis Lien led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Zimmerman recorded 19 points and six assists, while Frank Bellissimo recorded 14 points.
The Tomcats will return to Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium on January 3, 2023 when they play host to the Saint Vincent Bearcats in PAC play. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
