BETHANY, W.V. – The Thiel College men's basketball team went on the road and defeated the Bethany Bison, 82-70, Wednesday night.
The Tomcats would go on a 17-4 run mid-way through the first half to open up a 16-point lead. However, the Bison would cut the deficit to 11 before halftime. The Tomcats went into halftime with a 40-29 lead.
In the second half, the Tomcats remained on top, never giving up the lead. The Tomcats also led the entire second by more than eight points.
For the Tomcats, junior
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) scored a team-high 19 points. Ellerbee also recorded four rebounds. Graduate forward
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) scored 16 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and one block. Sophomore
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) (13) and freshman
Elijah Harden (Sharon, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) (11) also recorded double-digit points, respectively.
For the Bison, Cole Dailey recorded a game-best 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Quinn Hiles (17) and Chance Wells (13) also recorded double-digit points. Dailey recorded a double-double, and Wells recorded a triple-double.
The Tomcats return to action on Saturday when they travel to Allegheny for a Presidents' Athletic Conference game. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
