GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team defeated the Hiram Terriers 33-19 Wednesday in a non-conference match at Beeghly Gymnasium.
 
Thiel won three matches by pin, including the first two of night to take a quick 12-0 lead. EJ McCarthy (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) pinned Ian Fuentes in 50 seconds in the 125-pound match before Evan Whiteside (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) turned Corey Casterline in 2:01 in the 133-pound bout.
 
Whiteside was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Wrestler of the Week on Monday after he went 4-0 and won the 125-pound bracket at the W&J Invitational on Saturday.
 
Braydon Herbster (Linesville, Pa./Reynolds) recorded Thiel's third pin. At 197, Herbster needed 1:08 to defeat Zach Harper.
 
Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, Pa./Conneaut Area) won a 9-3 decision over Seth Holt at 165. Thiel's Hunter Martz (Hawthorn, Pa./Redbank Valley) and Bryce McCloskey (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) won by forfeit at 149 and 184, respectively.
 
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday when they compete in the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
