GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Thursday after defeating the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets 3-1 at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
After falling in the first set (18-25), Thiel won the next three games (25-6, 25-12, 25-20) to earn the league win.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led Thiel with a match-best 14 kills to go along with 12 digs and four aces.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes),
Jordyn Liedike (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) and
Katie Stamp (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) tallied six kills apiece.
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) recorded 11 digs and five kills.
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 41 digs.
Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local) and
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa. /Grove City Area) handed out 26 and 16 assists, respectively.
Cassandra Bown (Broadalbin, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth) led the Tomcats with four blocks while
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) chipped in with 12 digs.
Emily Stutzman paced the Yellow Jackets with 13 kills. Jordan Stein tallied 19 digs.
The Tomcats have won five of their last six matches. They will compete in the Susquehanna Tournament this weekend. On Friday, Thiel will face Vassar at 5 p.m.
