GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team defeated the Westminster Titans Tuesday 3-2 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel improved to 4-0 in conference play with Tuesday's win. It was Thiel's eight win in its last 10 matches.
Westminster won the first set, 25-20. The Tomcats went on to win 25-22 and 25-19 in the second and third stanzas, respectively. The Titans won the fourth set 25-22, but the Tomcats dominated 15-6 in the fifth game to earn the conference win.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) led the Tomcats with a match-high 15 kills while
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) registered 16 digs and 14 kills.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) contributed nine kills.
Jordyn Liedike (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) and
Brooke Talbot (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local) tallied seven kills apiece.
Talbot and
Carlie Reynolds (Grove City, Pa. /Grove City Area) recorded 31 assists apiece while
Danielle Aulet (Lawrence, Kansas/Mineral Ridge) led all players with 41 digs.
Natalie Franke paced Westminster with 13 kills while Lauren Lampus recorded 13 digs and 12 kills.
Thiel (13-8, 4-0 PAC) will face the Chatham Cougars (9-9, 2-2 PAC) on the road Thursday. The PAC match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
