NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team was defeated, 74-81, by the Westminster Titans in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.
In the first half, the Tomcats trailed for most of the time, but remained close, trailing by no more than six at any point. The Tomcats took a 27-26 lead with 4:20 left in the half and led by one to close out the half leading 35-34.
In the second half, it opened as more of the same, as the teams traded buckets and the lead back-and-forth. The Titans took a 44-43 lead over the Tomcats at the 15:16 mark. The Tomcats remained within striking distance and trailed by no more than 5 points until the 8:08 mark, but the Titans held onto the lead for the remainder of the game.
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) led the Tomcats with a career high in both points (18) and rebounds (eight).
Ahmad Tejumola (Waldorf, Md./Saint Charles) tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.
Devin Christian (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and
John Aarestrup (Miami, Fla./Archbishop Coleman Carroll) recorded 12 and 10 points, respectively. Christian also added four rebounds and two assists and Aarestrup chipped in three rebounds and three assists.
The Titans had six players tally nine or more points, including Daniel Ritter who led the team with 17 points and grabbed six boards.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back as they host the Grove City Wolverines on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
