LATROBE, Pa. - The Thiel College men's soccer team won, 2-0, against the Saint Vincent Bearcats in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Wednesday. 

Both teams held each other scoreless in the first half, despite 15 shots (five on goal) taken between the two teams. In the second half, the Tomcats broke the scoreless tie with a goal from Zach Johns (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin Area) at the 67:05 mark. Just over 11 minutes later, Anthony Phillips (Hanoverton, Ohio/United Local) netted a goal for the Tomcats to help secure the 2-0 victory. 

The Bearcats outshot the Tomcats 19 to six, but four of the Tomcats six shots were on net, compared to five-of-19 for the Bearcats. 

For the Tomcats, Johns scored his first collegiate goal and points. Nate Udell (Abington, Pa./Abington) assisted Johns and also tallied his first collegiate assist and point. Phillips netted his first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton) saved five shots and notched his second shutout of the season and fourth of his college career. 

For the Bearcats, David Rahaman totaled four shots on goal. Goaltender Zach Gibbons recorded two saves in the match. 

The Tomcats will look to continue to build momentum when they head to Beaver Falls for a PAC match against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
