GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match Tuesday at Beeghly Gymnasium to the Chatham Cougars, 3-1.
The Cougars eked out a 26-24 win in the first set, but the Tomcats came back with a 25-19 win in the second set. Chatham went on to win 26-24 in the third set and 25-16 in the fourth frame.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman), who was named the PAC Rookie of the Week on Monday, and
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) led Thiel's attack with 16 kills apiece. Gregory also recorded 11 digs while
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) contributed eight kills and three blocks.
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) led all players with 35 digs. Freshman setter
Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) recorded 41 assists and 15 digs. The Tomcats racked up 24 blocks, led by
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) who tallied four block assists and one solo block.
Rylee Ritko and Emily Richie led the Cougars with 20 and 19 kills, respectively. Megan Dominek notched 28 digs while Shaelah Pepperman recorded 49 assists and 18 digs.
The Tomcats will face the Geneva Golden Tornadoes on the road Thursday. The PAC match will begin at 7 p.m.
