GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team was defeated, 2-1, in a non-conference match against the Muskingum Fighting Muskies on Wednesday.
 
The Muskies struck first less than seven minutes into the game. 
Garret Smith (Warren, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) got the Tomcats on the board with a goal 24:45 into the game, as the score remained 1-1 going into halftime.
 
The score stayed at 1-1 for the majority of the second half. The Muskies ended the scoring drought with a goal with less than five minutes in the game to win 2-1.
 
For the Tomcats, 
Garret Smith (Warren, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) recorded two shots on goal, one of which was the game-tying goal. 
Chase Yopp (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) assisted Smith on the goal and tallied three shots of his own. 
Jacob Sirofchuck (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) registered a shot on goal. Goalkeeper 
Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton) totaled nine saves in the match.
 
For the Muskies, David Carlson and Adam Yezbeck scored goals. Yezbeck netted the game-winning goal. Noah Mueller assisted Yezbeck. Goalkeeper Zach Merchesano recorded a pair of saves in the win.
 
The Tomcats begin Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on the road at Saint Vincent next Wednesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
