GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's soccer team tied, 1-1 (2OT), against the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats on Wednesday evening.
The Bobcats started the scoring about 20 minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 lead. The lead would hold for over 60 minutes until freshman
Chase Yopp (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) tied the game with his first career goal as a Tomcat with close to 9 minutes left. Yopp's goal would be the last, as the Tomcats and Bearcats remained tied through double overtime, for a 1-1 final score.
For the Tomcats, Yopp scored the lone goal.
Soren Hottensmith (Brimfield, Ohio/Field) assisted on the goal, his first career assist as a Tomcat.
Anthony Phillips (Hanoverton, Ohio/United Local) tallied two shots on goal in the contest. Goaltender
Devin Weisbarth (Akron, Ohio/Norton) saved six shots and allowed just one goal in 110 minutes.
For the Bobcats, Jason Argueta scored their goal and was assisted by Adam Yoder. Argueta recorded three total shots. Goalkeeper Danny Rodgers allowed one goal and recorded two saves.
The Tomcats will be back on the field Saturday, September 4 when they host the Medaille Mavericks. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
