STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Thiel College women's volleyball team competed in a tri-match at Franciscan University on Saturday. The Tomcats opened the day with a 5-set loss to the Westminster Titans before earning a 3-1 win over the Franciscan Lady Barons.
Westminster won the first set 25-18, but the Tomcats won an extended second set 31-29. The Titans won 25-11 in the third set before the Tomcats eked out a 26-24 win in the fourth set. Westminster outdistanced Thiel 15-11 in the decisive fifth set.

Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led all players with 24 kills and recorded a .373 attack percentage against Westminster.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) chipped in with 11 kills while
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) led all players with 28 digs.
Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) handed out 44 assists while registering 11 digs.
Lauren Lampus led the Titans with 18 kills and 12 digs while Maya Steward notched 21 digs and 16 kills. Samantha Kelly recorded 48 assists.
Thiel won the first set against Franciscan (25-12) before falling in the second set (25-17). The Tomcats went on to finish the day with wins in the third (25-17) and fourth sets (25-20).
Torres led the Tomcats with 10 kills against the Lady Barons. Gregory and
Mya Storll (Linesville, Pa./Conneaut Area) recorded eight kills apiece. Aulet contributed 30 assists and 14 digs.
Renee Antonelli paced Franciscan with 15 digs and 10 kills.
The Tomcats will host the Chatham Cougars on Tuesday. The PAC match will begin at 7 p.m.
