BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team concluded play in the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday with losses to Nazareth (3-2) and the University of Rochester (3-1).
Thiel lost to the Nazareth Golden Flyers by set scores of (25-23, 16-25, 26-24, 10-25, 8-15).
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led Thiel with 15 kills.
Raquel McDonald (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) registered seven kills while
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) tallied 11 digs and seven kills.
Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) contributed 36 assists and 12 digs while
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) was credited with 22 digs.
Tessa Grove led the Golden Flyers with 18 kills, 10 blocks and nine digs. McKenzie Hart recorded 28 digs. Kaylee Kelly and Olivia Quick registered 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
The University of Rochester Yellowjackets won the first two sets, 25-23 and 25-20. Thiel rebounded with a 25-19 win in the third set, but the Yellowjackets won 25-16 in the fourth set.
Eaton notched 13 digs and 12 kills against Rochester.
Erica Gregory (Clinton Township, Mich./Fraser) also recorded 12 kills. Triskett came up with 20 digs while Aulet handed out 32 assists.
Megan Gatz led Rochester with 18 kills and 16 digs. Alexia Nelms registered 23 assists while La'i Yuen was credited with 12 digs.
The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday on the road. Thiel will face Franciscan at 11 a.m. and Westminster at 1 p.m.
