BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team lost its first contest at the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational Friday. Thiel lost to invitational host SUNY Brockport, 3-1.
The Golden Eagles won the first two sets (25-8, 25-17). Thiel won 25-23 in the third set before falling 25-12 in the fourth set.
Maria Torres (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) led the Tomcats with a match-best 14 kills. Torres did not commit an error on the night and owned a .636 attack percentage.
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) chipped in with eight digs and seven kills.
Danielle Aulet (Austintown, Ohio/Mineral Ridge) contributed 22 assists.
Meaghan Mastro and Megan Loomis led SUNY Brockport with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Kerri McHale tallied 29 assists while Madalyn Bowen registered 10 digs.
The Tomcats continue play in the SUNY Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday. Thiel will face Nazareth at 11 a.m. and the University of Rochester at 1:30 p.m.
