Tomcats drop doubleheader to Presidents

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College baseball team lost both games of a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Washington and Jefferson, 15-2 and 12-2, on Saturday.
 
In game one, the Presidents scored early and often, with three runs or more in each of the first four innings, leading to a 15-2 final. In game two, the Tomcats led 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth when the Presidents scored four runs. They followed that up with a five-run fifth inning and two-run sixth inning to bring the final score to 12-2.
 
Nash Matson (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) tallied four hits on the day, with three coming in game one. He also scored a run in each game. Trey Williams (Jeromesville, Ohio/Hillsdale) recorded a hit and an RBI in both games. Chase Morrison (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) also notched an RBI in game one. Jamin Wentling (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) scored a run in game two. Travis Harvey (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) and Alec Katon (Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood) were charged with losses in game one and game two, respectively. Alex Lutz (Loveland, Ohio/Milford) pitched a scoreless inning in relief in game one and Max Siguenza (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) threw 2.2 scoreless innings in game two.
 
The Presidents were led by Tyler Horvat's pitching in game one, throwing five innings and allowing two runs, earning the win, and Horvat's bat in game two, hitting a home run with 4 RBIs. Adam Morris also went 3-for-6 on the day with two home runs, four runs, and 5 RBIs.
 
The Tomcats will look to bounce back in a doubleheader rematch against the Presidents tomorrow at Tomcat Park, starting at 1 p.m.
