WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team was defeated, 13-9, by the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Wednesday.
The Presidents started the game strong, gaining an early 5-1 lead. The lead was extended to 8-2 at halftime. Out of the half, it was a similar story, with the Presidents leading 11-3 with 4:56 left to play in the third quarter. The Tomcats began to claw back, scoring six unanswered goals to cut the Presidents' lead to just two (11-9) with 4:30 to play. However, the Presidents added two insurance goals to win 13-9.
The Tomcats were led by
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) with five points (three goals and two assists).
JJ Raab (Butler, Pa./Butler) and
Dan Senisi (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) each notched three points. Raab had a goal and two assists, Senisi scored three goals.
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) also had a pair of assists to go along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Dylan Waskiewicz (York, Pa./Red Lion) led the Tomcats with 10 ground balls, his third game with double-digit ground balls this season.
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) recorded five saves in the contest.
For the Presidents, Alex Strain scored seven goals and added an assist. Carter Watts tallied four assists. Brody Alloway saved 12 shots in the win.
The Tomcats will look to bounce back Saturday at noon on the road against the Saint Vincent Bearcats.
