GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's volleyball team was defeated by the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 3-1 (25-10, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15), in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.
The Yellow Jackets controlled the first set, bolstered by two six-point runs. In set two, the Tomcats and Yellow Jackets were tied at 23 apiece, but the Yellow Jackets took the last two points to win the set. In set three, the Tomcats led or were tied for the duration of the set and took the set to bring the match to 2-1. In the final set, the Tomcats led 6-5 early, but the Yellow Jackets took control with a four-point run and led for the rest of the set.
The Tomcats were led by
Kylee Eaton (Parker, Pa./AC Valley) with 20 kills (tied a season and career high) and seven digs.
Emily Sears (Jefferson, Ohio/Geneva) led the Tomcats with a career-best 28 digs.
Mya Storll (Linesville, Pa./Conneaut Area) led with 36 assists and tallied 16 digs.
Abby Triskett (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) also reached 10 digs.
Jordyn Liedike (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) and
Natalie Zucco (Cleveland, Ohio/North Royalton) notched six kills each.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Hannah Colvin with 18 kills and 21 digs. Alexis Phillips and Trysten Smith totaled 21 and 18 assists, respectively.
The Tomcats' next match will be on the road against the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on Wednesday. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
