GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's volleyball team lost an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match to the Penn State Altoona Lions Tuesday at Beeghly Gymnasium, 3-1.
The Lions won the first two sets (25-20, 25-16). Thiel won the third set (25-22), but PSU Altoona went on to win the fourth set (25-15).
Dakota Forrest (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) led the Tomcats with 10 kills while
Zac Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) recorded 12 digs, six kills and four blocks.
Jonathan Burkley (Waterford, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) contributed seven kills and five digs while
Jacob Smeltzer (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) tallied eight digs, five kills and three blocks.
Nick Koorsen (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) handed out a match-best 25 assists.
Philip Silva led the Lions with 14 kills. Frank Perehinec registered 10 digs, eight kills and three blocks while Jared Bodisch chipped in with 10 kills and six digs.
The Tomcats will host the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday. The AMCC match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
