Tomcats top Titans by double digits

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College women's lacrosse team defeated the Westminster Titans, 17-2 in a non-conference showdown on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Tomcats scored five goals before the Titans got their first goal and kept that pace, leading 10-2 at the end of the first half. The Titans were held scoreless for the final 42 minutes and 19 seconds of the game, spanning the entire second half and over one-third of the first half.
 
Maddy Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) and Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) each tallied four goals apiece. Wightman also recorded an assist. Mackenzie Quinn (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored three goals and notched an assist. Juanima Van Zandt (Baltimore, Md./Edmonson West) and Abby Carrizales (Houston, Texas/Lamar) both scored two goals. Ashlyn Wightman (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) led the Tomcats with four ground balls. Including Wightman, the Tomcats had 10 players tally at least two ground balls. Emily Ramous (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) finished with four saves and let in just two goals in 30 minutes. Madison Liggett (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) did not allow a goal in 30 minutes.
 
For the Titans, Cortlynn Douds and Alexa Voelp scored the two goals. Emma Bradley recorded 10 saves in the game.
 
The Tomcats will look to stay undefeated when they take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on the road Thursday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m.
