GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College softball team lost a pair of non-conference games Saturday to the Washington & Jefferson Presidents at Tomcat Park. Thiel lost the first game 10-3 before falling 9-0 in the second game.
W&J opened up a 3-0 lead in the first game, but Thiel cut the lead down to 3-2 in the bottom of the first on RBI-doubles by
Kylee Yothers (Indian Head, Pa./Connellsville Area) and
Shay Tresler (Fairview, Pa./Fairview).
The Presidents went on to score seven more runs over the final six innings. The Tomcats scored their third run of the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI-single by Tresler.
Tresler went 2-for-4 in the first game with two RBIs and a double.
Ali Arter (Johnstown, Ohio/Johnstown-Monroe) went 2-for-3 with a double while
Kayla Roddy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
Lauren Durboraw (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) led the Tomcats with a double in the second game.
Casey Buechel (Allison Park, Pa./Deer Lakes), Roddy and Arter recorded one single apiece.
The Tomcats are scheduled to play the Bethany Bison on the road on Thursday. The first game of the non-conference doubleheader is set to begin at 3 p.m.
